Rowing is a very good exercise. It ensures the working out of the whole body. It is also not very strenuous in nature thus can be practiced by people above the age of fifty. The people who have crossed the age of fifty should put conscious effort to stay fit. During this stage of life the active cells of the body become less efficient because of the fact that the death rate of these cells exceeds the growth rate of these cells. The whole process decreases the efficiency of the human body. The joints of the body become stiffer, the muscles loose strength and the eyesight becomes weaker. To retain all these or to prevent these parts from any further damage, the body should be frequently subjected to mild exercises. The exercises should not be over strenuous which can even cause further damage as the body after certain stage refuses to take heavy load. Rowing in this sense can be regarded as a very effective exercise.

Rowing as an exercise to stay fit

Rowing can be a good exercise as it involves movement of the arms to pull the rows of the boat to make it move. Thus the body movements involved while rowing a boat ensures that the body is amply worked out. The movement of the arms to make the boat move also helps in strengthening the muscles. If it is practiced over a good period of time then it also generates enough heat to burn the excess amount of calories and fat in the body.

The process of rowing is also very useful in burning of excess calories in the body, which is a result of the inactive life that a person generally leads after attaining the age of fifty. This is very useful in avoiding the fatal health hazards like high blood pressures, diabetes, heart attack which can be a result of high calorie level. It also can be viewed as a recreational activity as it helps to float on the water under the sun bringing us closer to the nature.
